Mail order brides have a chance for love
I open the folder. Inside are individual pages with color photos of various mail order brides. Besides a portrait photo, there's a full-length picture of mail order bride. Some have decided to wear miniskirts, some bathing suits, to show off their figures.

. Included in the folder were: Svetlana, 23, a Russian woman brunette who said: "I like to travel. I like music, theater and the arts. I will be a good wife." Natalia, 38, also a brunette: "I like a gentleman. I am very musical and play piano and sing. I have a university degree. I am a mathematician and economist. I write poetry and music. I love to travel. I like to sew, knit and cook. I like to decorate." Eteri, 26, yet another brunette: "I'm kind and sensitive. I like doing housekeeping. I like doing sports and other forms of active recreation." Nadeja, 42, an ash blonde: "I am intelligent, sincere and like business and housekeeping. I like to cook and am very caring. I sew and make many of my clothes." How many personals ads in the U.S. have women saying they "like doing housekeeping?" With an accompanying bathing suit photo? It's not too hard to figure out why a good number of American guys would be interested. The European Connection agency owner says he envisions a multitude of American men taking trips to Russia in the coming years.
He has planned one for February, a weeklong tour package costing $ 2,975. "For that you get round-trip airfare from L.A. to Moscow, a private apartment stocked with food, a full-time car and driver, a full-time translator, three banquets and more mail order brides companionship than you could ever handle," he says. And if that's not enough, "You also get cultural tours." Right now, the only American customer who's met a Russian woman in person is Jim Anderson. He insisted on tagging along when the owner went to Russia recently to finalize the service. By then, Anderson had been corresponding with a 31-year-old. Anderson is 51, divorced, with two grown daughters. He said neither he nor the Russian woman is bothered by the age difference. "Frankly, my romantic life was boring. I wanted excitement and adventure," he says. I ask about the American women he dated. What was the matter with them? Nothing, he said.
